🇫🇷 Ce tableau d’Eliel a été réalisé à l’île de La Réunion en 2025, dans un geste à la fois intime et universel. La surface est traversée par une écriture peinte en créole, volontairement brute et vibrante, qui devient matière autant que langage. Les mots s’inscrivent dans la couleur, se superposent aux textures et se laissent parfois deviner plutôt que lire.

Le texte évoque une phrase simple et poétique : je suis comme un paille en queue, j’espère que le ciel va être bleu » : une parole intérieure, une métaphore du désir d’élévation, d’espoir et de liberté. À travers cette écriture, l’artiste exprime une quête : celle de la lumière, du ciel bleu, d’un horizon ouvert, malgré les turbulences.

Les nuances de bleu dominantes rappellent à la fois l’océan, le ciel et la spiritualité, créant une atmosphère méditative. Le geste pictural, répétitif et presque calligraphique, transforme la phrase en mantra visuel, invitant le regardeur à ralentir et à ressentir plutôt qu’à interpréter.

Réalisé dans le cadre d’une exposition en 2025 au Cercle des  Artistes de Saint Paul De Vence, ce tableau célèbre la langue créole comme vecteur de poésie contemporaine et de mémoire vivante. Il rend hommage à La Réunion, à sa parole singulière, et à cette aspiration universelle : avancer, espérer, et garder les yeux tournés vers le ciel bleu

🇺🇸 This painting by Eliel was created on the island of La Réunion in 2025, through a gesture that is both intimate and universal. The surface is crossed by painted Creole writing, deliberately raw and vibrant, which becomes material as much as language. The words are embedded in the color, layered over textures, and sometimes suggested rather than fully read.

The text evokes a simple and poetic sentence: “I am like a paille-en-queue, I hope the sky will be blue” — an inner voice, a metaphor for the desire for elevation, hope, and freedom. Through this writing, the artist expresses a quest: that of light, blue skies, and an open horizon, despite turbulence.

The dominant shades of blue recall the ocean, the sky, and spirituality, creating a meditative atmosphere. The pictorial gesture, repetitive and almost calligraphic, transforms the phrase into a visual mantra, inviting the viewer to slow down and to feel rather than to interpret.

Created for an exhibition in 2025 at the Cercle des Artistes of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, this painting celebrates the Creole language as a vehicle for contemporary poetry and living memory. It pays tribute to La Réunion, to its singular voice, and to a universal aspiration: to move forward, to hope, and to keep one’s eyes turned toward blue skies.
