🇫🇷 Cette œuvre a été réalisée in situ à l’île de La Réunion, un territoire profondément ancré dans l’histoire personnelle d’Eliel, où l’artiste a passé une partie essentielle de son enfance. Plus qu’un lieu géographique, l’île représente un espace de mémoire, de racines et d’émotions fondatrices.

Au cœur de la composition apparaît une inscription en créole réunionnais, traduisant les mots « je t’aime ». Cette phrase simple et universelle devient ici un acte pictural, un geste d’amour adressé à l’île elle-même, à ses paysages, à sa lumière, à son souffle vivant. Les formes organiques, les couleurs aquatiques et végétales évoquent l’océan, la faune, la flore et l’énergie vibrante de La Réunion.

🇺🇸 This artwork was created in situ on the island of La Réunion, a place deeply rooted in Eliel’s personal history, where the artist spent a formative part of their childhood. More than a geographical location, the island represents a space of memory, origins, and emotional grounding.

At the heart of the composition appears an inscription in Réunion Creole, translating to “I love you.” This simple yet universal phrase becomes a pictorial gesture—an act of love addressed to the island itself, to its landscapes, its light, and its living energy. Organic forms and aquatic and vegetal colors evoke the ocean, the flora and fauna, and the vibrant spirit of La Réunion.

Painted in direct connection with the place, the work captures a sense of presence and immediacy. The free, almost calligraphic gesture allows raw and sincere emotion to surface, carried by memory and embodied experience.
